Audiobook

Benefits

Entertainment

Unlike print, the aural nature of audiobooks provides the ability to change the feeling and atmosphere of books (Bull 2006; Pedersen and Have 2012; Audio Publishers Association 2013, as cited by Moore and Cahille, 2016).

Social Connection

Group audiobook listening easily provides the opportunity to share present responses as they occur with others, unlike reading print books do (O’Connell, 2013).

Mobility

Listening to audiobooks involves only the ears, not the eyes and hands required in reading books, allowing the listener the ability to move freely (Pedersen and Have, 2012).

Multi-tasking

As a homeschool mom of four, it's much easier to listen to an audiobook while performing other tasks during my busy day. I always listen to on audiobook for my monthly book club book to avoid the stress of running out of time as our meeting approaches.
